There’s nothing better than a nice light leather leash or slip leash in your hand connecting you to your dog, allowing you to communicate freely and easily.
Your leash is like a phone line that connects you to our dog. If theres too much unnecessary stuff on the leash weighing it down, your going to have a bad connection and you won’t be able to communicate your message as quickly or affectively.
The way you use the leash and your ability to communicate will affect your dogs behaviour and reactions in certain situations. Leash pressure ALWAYS means something to your dog. I teach dogs how to move with the leash. Leash pressure means follow the direction of the leash.
Too many dogs think leash pressure means pull harder to get where they want to go. If their humans follow them around, this is exactly what they are teaching them and dogs end up with sore necks from pulling and more issues because of the lack of clear communication.
I don’t believe the leash is a magic wand, but it can work like one if your energy is right.
